Dental Crowns | Fitchburg & Leominster, MA
DiNinno Family Dental – Fitchburg MA
Most dentistry looks like dentistry. Our goal is to provide dentistry that is undetectable. We replace existing crowns and fillings with restorations that look and feel like your natural teeth.
Where damage to a person’s teeth is extreme, and apparently beyond repair, we can use porcelain or porcelain “pasted on gold” crowns to make the smile appear “as new”. This is an extremely reliable technique for repairing the most severe of dental problems, even permanently replacing missing teeth to offer a complete smile and a functional bite. We are renowned for the quality of our work and the fantastic changes we make for people using this technology. These treatments are used for a long-lasting correction of major dental problems. It is usual for these treatments to last for 20 to 30 years, which is as close to permanent as dental treatment can get.
How long does it take to fit a dental crown?
Fitting a dental crown requires at least two visits to our office. Initially, we will remove decay, shape the tooth, and fit it with a temporary crown of either plastic or metal.
On the subsequent visit, we will remove the temporary crown and then fit and adjust the final crown. Finally, we will cement the dental crown into place and you have a new beautiful looking tooth.
Key Benefits of Dental Crowns
- Replaces missing teeth
- Offers support to misshapen teeth or badly broken teeth
- Looks completely natural
- Fixes “smile” and functional chewing problems

What are the capabilities of dental crowns?
Crown and bridgework is a very reliable solution for major dental problems caused through accidents, diseases or wear and tear. Major problems can usually be corrected using these techniques. Material used in these repairs is either high-grade porcelain or porcelain bonded to gold. A higher strength of the porcelain and gold materials is recommended to treat the most serious of dental problems. Where accidental damage has occurred, resulting in lost teeth, or where teeth have broken away through excessive wear, or as the result of old fillings breaking, crowns and/or dental bridges can be used as a long-term solution.
Many people have unexplained pain from filled back teeth, which is usually due to hairline cracks in the chewing part of the tooth. Placing dental crowns on these teeth relieves the pain and allows a return of full dental function for these teeth. In front teeth, older fillings can both weaken the teeth and cause “appearance” problems due to staining or chipping. Porcelain crowns and dental bridges are suitable in cases where porcelain veneers are not. In teeth with root canal fillings, dental crowns can prevent breakage.
Dental Crown Cases
Here is an example of a tooth with a large, failing amalgam restoration and a tooth that has had root canal therapy. Dental crowns are indicated for both teeth to prevent fracture and possible tooth loss.

Patient Review By Kris B
I have been with Dr Nick since I was a teenager. I can not say enough about the outstanding treatment I have recieved over the years. From taking me in on an emergency call on a Saturday, to making me feel overall relaxed in the dental chair, I have always been at ease. The transition to Dr. Nicholas was smooth, and is equally satisfying. The DiNinno family has always treated me like their own family. The staff loyalty that they have is a testament to the big family that is DiNinno dental. I am happy to be part of that family!

Our family has 35+ years of exceptional treatment from the TEAM at DiNinno Family Dentistry. They have continually exceeded expectations and their progressive journey from Main St-Oliver St-South St speaks volumes to their success in capturing new patients while retaining patients due to their exceptional treatment and care of many such as our family. The passing of the torch from Dr Nick Jr to Dr Nick III is a dream that they should be extremely proud of BUT they accomplished that via hard work and genuine care for their patients. They will be accorded "5 STAR" ratings from each and every member of our family without exception...We applaud your success and wish you the very best as you continue to grow in your "state-of-the-art" facility serving patients throughout the area!

Dr. Nick has been my Dentist for 38 years. Our family had terrible experiences with a different Dentist for years before that and one of my Brothers decided he wasn't going back to the other Dentist and he was going to find us a new Dentist. He looked in the Yellow Pages (yes I'm old) and happened to pick Dr. Nick. Boy were we lucky! Dr. Nick is the most gentle, kind human being I have met. Well until Dr. Nicholas his son. I have to admit I was nervous seeing Dr. Nicholas because I was so used to Dr. Nick but he is amazing as well and just like his Dad. I also can not leave out Tina, she is the heart of the practice and we love her. I would not go anywhere else!!

My old dentist of over 30 years had recently sold his practice and I was not satisfied with the new owner. After some research, referrals from friends and a visit I decided to move to DiNinno Family Dental. Their location and days open are ideal for me. They come from Fitchburg and had a good opinion of the dentist that I had gone to for years. This all added up to a win for me. Then the true test. I decided to get a crown done that I had been putting off for years. I couldn't have asked for more (other than not needing one to begin with). The work was as painless as possible and the tooth seems just like my natural tooth. The billing and insurance work were also as painless as possible. All in all, I am very happy with my move to DiNinno Family Dental.

I honestly can't say enough about everyone at DiNinno Family Dental. From the staff at the front desk, the insurance aspect of getting dental work done and to the dental staff they have been professional, kind and incredibly understanding of my dental needs. I came to see Dr. Nicholas 2 years ago with an emergency procedure that needed to be done. The front desk was kind and gentle answering all of my frantic questions and booking me an appointment immediately. Dr. Nicholas has been nothing but understanding and incredibly knowledgeable about my care and with my permission worked out a plan to get me the care needed by his staff. Having lived in Boston for several years and having dental work done with specialists, I have never been cared for and felt like there was hope with my teeth like I have with Dr. Nicholas. The office is clean, up to date and I feel like family whenever I am in there to get my teeth cleaned by Amy or dental work with Dr. Nicholas. Recently my daughter who is 3 has started to get her teeth cleaned there with Amy. They understood how nervous she was as it was her first time and they were so gentle and calm with her she feels safe going back in 6 months. I will never be able to thank them for being so wonderful and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for dental care or who needs to change dentists.

Ok, I was terrified to go to the dentist as a kid. The doctor would stab me with a 12 foot needle and start boring into my face with a huge oil rig drill. SMOKE !! There was smoke coming from my mouth. I was not even numb half the time. I am sure he was a good doctor, but as a kid, that terror stayed with me most of my adult life. I would get cold sweats knowing I had to go see the dentist even for a check-up and cleaning. Even in the military, most of the doctors were very good, but I could never relax enough and just get through the procedures. I was basically TOASTED for the rest of the day. Then, I met Dr. Nick, I was impressed with his ability to read my nervousness and anxiety. I told him I was not real good with the dentist stuff. I was really put at ease talking to Nick, after telling him my history with dental care he explained what we needed to do after a very easy exam. We set up a plan, it was all very easy and relaxed. After my visit I was suprisingly at ease. Now I know why my daughter was always excited to go see Dr. Nick. For over 20 years now, I am able to go through all the procedures, I am at ease with these guys. Both of the DiNinno doctors and staff are awesome. Sure, I still can get a bit stressed, but the whole office will put a person at ease and make it ok. I tell my friends and work partners that my dentist's idea of NUMB is you can't feel your ankles. Can't beat that !! SO, if you had the same type situation when you were younger or even now, call these guys. Go in and talk to them, especially if you have children!! You will see why I trust these doctors with all my dental care. The whole office is great !! You OWE it to yourself and family to go see the DiNinno Crew.

When Dr. DiNinno Jr. opened his practice in Fitchburg over 30 yrs. ago, I had the good fortune of becoming one his first patients. I remember the stenciled glass door window of that first office on Main St. and love seeing it in the state of the art center he has built on South St. I have always been more than satisfied with the care that I have received from all the very qualified staff at DiNinno Family Dental. Such a fitting name, as I feel I am more than just a patient; I am one of the family. I am so happy that Nicholas III is continuing in the family tradition. Continuity of care has always been very important to me. I am very grateful to have found such a caring, accomplished and dedicated dentist. These qualities are found in all who work at DiNinno Family Dental. Thank you ALL.

I have been coming to Dininno Family Dental for over 25 years now. When I first saw Dr. Nick Jr. I was petrified since I had an awful experience with my last dentist. He took such special care of me and it has been an "I LOVE MY DENTIST" relationship every since!! Dr. Nick Jr. did my braces on my 40th birthday along with crowns and fillings to keep my teeth in tip top shape. I had my first appointment with Dr. Nick III today and he was totally amazing. I am retiring soon and planning to move to Nevada ...guess I will have to make a yearly flight back so I can have my dental appointment with the ONLY people I want hanging around my mouth! I cannot imagine going to any other dental office when I have the best care on the planet with Drs. Nick Jr., Nick III and their loyal staff. I LOVE YOU ALL and THANK YOU!!!
