Dental Crowns | Fitchburg & Leominster, MA
DiNinno Family Dental – Fitchburg MA
Most dentistry looks like dentistry. Our goal is to provide dentistry that is undetectable. We replace existing crowns and fillings with restorations that look and feel like your natural teeth.
Where damage to a person’s teeth is extreme, and apparently beyond repair, we can use porcelain or porcelain “pasted on gold” crowns to make the smile appear “as new”. This is an extremely reliable technique for repairing the most severe of dental problems, even permanently replacing missing teeth to offer a complete smile and a functional bite. We are renowned for the quality of our work and the fantastic changes we make for people using this technology. These treatments are used for a long-lasting correction of major dental problems. It is usual for these treatments to last for 20 to 30 years, which is as close to permanent as dental treatment can get.
How long does it take to fit a dental crown?
Fitting a dental crown requires at least two visits to our office. Initially, we will remove decay, shape the tooth, and fit it with a temporary crown of either plastic or metal.
On the subsequent visit, we will remove the temporary crown and then fit and adjust the final crown. Finally, we will cement the dental crown into place and you have a new beautiful looking tooth.
Key Benefits of Dental Crowns
- Replaces missing teeth
- Offers support to misshapen teeth or badly broken teeth
- Looks completely natural
- Fixes “smile” and functional chewing problems

What are the capabilities of dental crowns?
Crown and bridgework is a very reliable solution for major dental problems caused through accidents, diseases or wear and tear. Major problems can usually be corrected using these techniques. Material used in these repairs is either high-grade porcelain or porcelain bonded to gold. A higher strength of the porcelain and gold materials is recommended to treat the most serious of dental problems. Where accidental damage has occurred, resulting in lost teeth, or where teeth have broken away through excessive wear, or as the result of old fillings breaking, crowns and/or dental bridges can be used as a long-term solution.
Many people have unexplained pain from filled back teeth, which is usually due to hairline cracks in the chewing part of the tooth. Placing dental crowns on these teeth relieves the pain and allows a return of full dental function for these teeth. In front teeth, older fillings can both weaken the teeth and cause “appearance” problems due to staining or chipping. Porcelain crowns and dental bridges are suitable in cases where porcelain veneers are not. In teeth with root canal fillings, dental crowns can prevent breakage.
Dental Crown Cases
Here is an example of a tooth with a large, failing amalgam restoration and a tooth that has had root canal therapy. Dental crowns are indicated for both teeth to prevent fracture and possible tooth loss.

DiNinno Family Dental
Patient Review By julie F
I have found my dental home. I am not only a patient but part of the DiNinno Family Dental Team. I can honestly say that as I have worked in a few dental practices and feel most comfortable here. The working environment is pleasant and my co-workers well I cannot say enough of how each of them individually contribute special care for each patient they treat. We have had some of the same staff members for 25 years which I certainly think says a lot about a practice. I have to add I recently had a dental procedure completed and as always I am a bit apprehensive in the chair. However I am at ease as Dr. DiNinno and our dental assistants are so confident and relaxed. Most importantly procedures have always been pain free. If your needing dental cleaning our hygienists are professional, courteous, gentle and kind. We hope you are greeted at the door with a warm welcome by the front desk team as well. I wanted to express my thoughts as I certainly hope our patients feel the same way I do about the staff. Julie F

There is something to be said about longevity. When I see Dr. Nick's original street-front sign in his new office, I feel extreme confidence in the care I will receive at DiNinno Family Dental. Everyone in his office is always genuinely happy and this makes a world of difference in a dental experience. I am thrilled when the Doctors take the time to explain things to me. I always feel that they care as much about my dental health as I do. DiNinno Family Dental has turned the fear and anxiety that typically accompanies a day of "going to the dentist" with a more positive and enjoyable experience. Everything about their facility is always immaculate and state-of-the-art and this adds to the confidence I experience at their hands. If anyone is looking for a new dentist I most definitely would recommend the "Dynamic DiNinno Duo"!
